PILOTS were back in the sky above the Wimmera yesterday and looking forward to another spell of clear, hot weather as Horsham Week gliding competition swung back into gear.

Bright sunshine greeted competitors who had been waiting for an overcast sky to clear to resume the unique international event.

Overcast and damp conditions early in the week grounded the pilots who had experienced ideal soaring conditions at the start of the annual competition.

Competition spokesman Joe Luciani said pilots had been looking for a 'return to summer'.

"Bad weather shot us down for three days after a very good first day. We're hoping for a return to hot weather and a clear sky to finish," he said.

The competition attracts pilots from across Australia and overseas.
