About 120 past and present members of the Wimmera Soaring Club celebrated the 21st birthday of the formation of the club with a suitable evening of food and booze at the club house on Saturday March 24th.

Many old acquaintances were renewed. Past President Steve McFarlane toasted the Club's 2lst with the special anniversary wine bottled for the occasion.

Unfortunately, owing to bad weather, not a lot of flying was done that day, but a Tiger Moth did visit for the day. Not our old VH-WAL but a Tiger none-the-less.

Historical scrap books, photos and film of the Club's previous aircraft and operations were on display and created much interest.

In particular, photos of the winch jogged some people into remembering a harrowing experience for one ex-member when it came time to test the winch speed.

Story is he left the club vowing never to get tangled up with gliders again. Seems he's showing some interest again. How poor must his memory be.

Many of the old members were greatly impressed with the Club's modern facilities and current fleet.

The weekend wound up with a barbeque on the Sunday. All voted it a great weekend and look forward to our 25th.
